- Video playback is smoother with IE9.
- Tip: Enable the “Status” bar for quick access to magnification.

Movea’s $2 Remote Control
For enjoying online TV from a couch, a good remote is a must.
Spreety Labs is pleased to give a thumbs-up to Movea’s $2 remote control iPhone app, which works for Macs and PCs:
- The software remotely controls a Mac or PC’s keyboard, mouse, and volume.
- A few customizations will make it perfect for online TV, such as adding two buttons to the Internet settings: “Air Volume” and a “Custom Key” for the [ESC] key to exit full screen video.
- Pre-requisites: wireless router and additional software install on the destination machine.
The Movea Air Mouse is available from the iPhone app store.

Online TV for the Living Room / Family Room
Personal computers by default are built to be used from 2 feet away. This creates an issue when sitting on a couch, eight feet away. Thankfully, there are few simple changes to make a Windows 7 PC work effectively:
- For maximum picture clarity, use a digital cable, like HDMI, to connect to the monitor / TV.
- For ease of use, find a remote control that can move the mouse pointer, like the Gyration remote.
- For readability, use the control panel to set large fonts and a large, inverse color mouse pointer.
- For a pure audio track, turn off system sounds.
- For uninterrupted play, change the screen saver / power saver to 2.5 hours and disable / remove as many unnecessary pieces of auto-updating software as possible.

Spreety Challenge Participants
The online TV transition is in the midst of dynamic change, and Spreety TV Online wants to encourage clarity in this entertaining space. So, the co-founders at Spreety TV Online launched the innovative Spreety Challenge. The selected participants will receive a Gyration remote control (a $70 value) and a one hour consultation with a Spreety co-founder to help find their favorites online.
The seven participants for the 2010 Spreety Challenge are:
- Bill from Atlanta, GA
- Bonnie from West Hollywood, CA
- Ray from Beech Bluff, TN
- Diane from Thousand Oaks, CA
- Stephanie from Franklin, NC
- Mary from Agoura Hills, CA
- Walter from Southaven, MS
The participants are requested to provide by January 16, 2011 a 300+ word article on their personal online TV experience, including what they liked, and what they would like to see. Those articles may be shared on the Spreety sites.
At Spreety, we want to thank everyone for their applications. The response was wonderful, and we will consider a follow up challenge in 2011.
